Beaches
If it's golden sand you are after why not head out for a day at Valarus Plage, just a 30 minute drive away and a great family beach. There are many restaurants offering delicious seafood and there's always something on the menu for the little ones or the less adventurous.
Valarus Ouest lies a couple of kilometres further down this glorious sea front: a quieter beach for grown-ups, with a cafe and life guard. Ordering drinks whilst reclining on the swanky rentable sun loungers, whilst gazing over the azure blue Mediterranean can be pure heaven.
Walking
If your passion is ambling or hill walking, then try the beautiful forest trek (one of several hikers trails which start in Roquebrun). Or visit nearby Gorge d'Heric - a wonderful day out in spectacularly rugged scenery and a great place to picnic.
Kayaking
Roquebrun is famed for its Canoeing and Kayaking on the Orb (the main station for hiring boats is in the village). Routes can be selected according to how many rapids you can endure! Life jackets come with the boats and safety hats are provided to those taking on the toughest stretches.
If you don't like rapids you can explore a gentle stretch of the river and lie back with a good book.
Other activities
Golf and tennis. Fishing is excellent. And the region draws plenty of birdwatchers and geologists.
The area is one of such great natural beauty that we've had visits from several artists whove been captivated by the staggering terrain and light. An artist from the New York school of Art is setting up painting breaks with us. |
